Ole jorgen Hammeken of Uummannaq
In Greenland sled dogs are descended from the first canine migrants who came to Greenland from Elles mere island , no other dogs are allowed into Greenland , in this way , the blood lives are kept pure , slightly smaller than the Aklaskan husky and more fined boned , they have the same sharp teeth , head , ears and upturned tail , some are dark brown with white chests , others white blond , the color of polar bears . They live in groups and have their own groups and their own society , they are watchful like wolves , the dogs are fed only every second or third day because its thought , that what if they ate regularly they would lose their ability to survive days when the hunting is bad and there is no food , they are kept half wild and hungry . Hunters like Ole Jorgen feed their dogs halibut, because there is not enough meat , when he appears the dogs start barking and yelping as he feeds them morsels of fish .As he throws the fish at them , the dogs lunge , straining against their chains , pawing the air for more fish .
