Ole Jorgen is Inuit born in Nuuk , the capital city below the arc tic circle
Before coming to Uummannaq he was studying Law , but had this burning passion inside of himself to be a real Eskimo and spend the rest of his life living as a hunter , on his quest to becoming a true hunter , he has learned the art of driving dogs , reading the ice , he has survived storms , and the very cold winters , among his merits was a long 1500 km long sled journey from Uummannaq to Neqi north of Qaanaaq in 1997 .In 2007 he opened a new sled route from Uummannaq via the inland ice to Illulissat ,when the the old postal sled route no longer could be used by dog sleds due to Global warming , this resulted in a documentary -Global warming dog sled expedition,together with « Silent snow about POPs- Persistent Organic pollutants ,very dangerous pollutants which are affecting the arctic at an alarming rate .

Ole Jorgen Hammeken is the only Greenlander to become a member of the most exclusive adventurers club of them all , The explorers club in New York .
